From the Soul of the Foot to the Core of the Body

This two part workshop introduces the relationship of the proper placement of the foot and ankle to the performance of the entire body. The morning session includes an introduction to the functional anatomy of the foot and ankle, embodying the information by locating the structures on your own body and developing an understanding of the movement of the bones through seeing, feeling and understanding. The afternoon session includes dynamic alignment and strength exercises for the foot and ankle, integration of optimal placement of the feet in Reformer and Trapeze Table exercises and understanding the effects of foot placement on the rest of the body.

Principals of Core Intelligence

The Principals of Core Intelligence is a indepth insight and introduction to essential core knowledge, specially designed for the beginning and aspiring Pilates Teaching Professional. The content is modeled after the very popular 30 hour Core Intelligence "mother" course. It is formatted to be offered in a weekend setting in preparation to enter the Mat and Apparatus modules of the BBU Training into Comprehensive Teacher Training Education. The curriculum offers a clear comprehension of Pilates as a concept, all components of Core Stability and Movement control, Pilates Core Ability Mat Work and the insight in Pilates Now. This high standard pre-requisite course is frequently updated and fosters a solid starting foundation for all aspiring teachers.

This is a pre-requisite for all BBU Teacher's Training Programs at Long Beach Dance Conditioning.

Diagonal Tactile Concepts and Cueing Techniques

Spirals are the building blocks of nature, and are the building blocks of all human movement. This workshop introduces and clarifies the dynamic tactile cues that are the underpinnings to optimal postural alignment and fluidity during the movement. Elevate your teaching to a higher level of proficiency by learning a supportive two-point touch technique that effectively communicates movement and movement re-patterning towards a stronger body.

Sling System Approach to Core Intelligence

Objectives: Depth and Challenge
Introducing the true depth of the Pilates fundamental principles and mat exercises thru a unique sling support.

  • The repertoire fundamentals are performed on the trapeze table (Cadillac) and offer a safe challenging and intelligent approach to precision and movement control.
  • The sling systems repertoire embraces the “Pilates for everybody” philosophy with a tactile and somatic experience to: learning how to exercise.
  • Providing a challenge and depth in the work to any level of proficiency.

SmartSpine

This 2 1/2-day course incorporates the new Smartspine approach to promote new postural
patterning through spinal alignment and supportive breathing techniques. This knowledge will provide you with the practical skills and tools to elevate your teaching to a higher level of proficiency.
Equipment used:

  • Reformer
  • Trap Table
  • Baby Arc
  • Spine Corrector

This workshop will include the biomechanics of the spine and new core principles as used in the Pilates environment. The presentation will be illustrated by visual 3D Power Point support.

Back on Track

 

Specialty workshop on therapeutic Pilates. (Reformer work).
Building the bridge between Pilates, rehabilitation and the uses of new pilates techniques in the Therapeutic environment. This is a skill specific workshop in detail beyond the repertoire designed for the physical therapist, osteopath or chiropractor. This workshop unleashes the biomechanics of the movement skill and introduces excellence in tactile guidance and corrective cueing.

On Solid Ground

Using the Jumpboard (or footplate) in a closed kinetic chain approach to deepening the level of your strength.
Objectives: Retraining and reinforcing proper movement patterns of the whole body via the “foundation” of the body thru full foot contact work.

Taking the Weight of the Shoulder

The focus of this workshop is to demystify the biomechanics of the shoulder girdle and its dependency of the stability on the Thorax.  A stable and controlled Thorax unifies the connections of the lower Core with the shoulder girdle into the body as a whole.

Objectives: To introduce the knowledge of sound biomechanics and new cueing vocabulary into the Pilates repertoire with renewed comprehension and skill of shoulder girdle movement.
